How to use
  • Piriton Allergy Tablets Chlorphenamine 4mg is meant to be taken orally. For adults, the typical dosage is one tablet (4mg) every 4 to 6 hours, but no more than 6 tablets should be taken in a 24 hour period. For children aged 6 to 12 years, the dosage is usually half a tablet (2mg) every 4 to 6 hours, and no more than 6 half-tablets in 24 hours.
  • Always swallow the tablet whole, with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.
  • Before starting on this medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you have any pre-existing conditions or if you are on any other medication. Do not exceed the recommended dose and discontinue use if you experience any adverse reactions.
  • These directions are given as a guideline. Always follow the exact instructions provided by your healthcare professional or as noted on the packaging.
  • Do not use in children under 6 years of age unless directed by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects:
  • Drowsiness or Dizziness: Chlorphenamine can cause drowsiness or dizziness, so refrain from driving, operating heavy machinery or engaging in other activities that require mental alertness.
  • Allergic reaction: Seek emergency medical help if you experience symptoms of a serious allergic reaction like rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness or trouble breathing.
  • Dry mouth, nose, and throat: Drinking water frequently will help with dryness.
  • Constipation: Increase your intake of dietary fiber, increase fluid intake and exercise regularly to prevent constipation.
  • Older adults may be more susceptible to the side effects of this drug, particularly drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure, confusion and constipation.
  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breast-feeding.
  • Alcohol: Avoid drinking alcohol as it can increase some of the side effects of Chlorphenamine.
  • Drug interactions: Some drugs may interact negatively with Chlorphenamine, discuss your medications with your doctor before use.
Cautions:
  • Do not use Piriton if you are allergic to chlorphenamine or any other ingredients in the tablet.
  • Avoid driving or operating machinery as Piriton may lead to drowsiness or dizziness.
  • Consult with your doctor if you have breathing problems, glaucoma, prostate problems, or kidney or liver disease.
  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless advised by your doctor.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medication as it may increase sleepiness.
